Jellied moose nose

Ummmm, yeah. Here is how you make it.

1 Upper jawbone of a moose
1 Onion; sliced
1 Garlic clove
1 tb Mixed pickling spice
1 ts Salt
1/2 ts Pepper
1/4 c Vinegar

Cut the upper jaw bone of the moose just below the eyes.
Place in a large kettle of scalding water and boil for 45 minutes.

Remove and chill in cold water.

Pull out all the hairs - these will have been loosened by the boiling and should come out easily (like plucking a duck).

Wash thoroughly until no hairs remain.

Place the nose in a kettle and cover with fresh water.

Add onion, garlic, spices and vinegar

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the meat is tender. Let cool overnight in the liquid.

When cool, take the meat out of the broth, and remove and discard the bones and the cartilage. You will have two kinds of meat, white meat from the bulb of the nose, and thin strips of dark meat from along the bones and jowls.

Slice the meat thinly and alternate layers of white and dark meat in a loaf pan.

Reheat the broth to boiling, then pour the broth over the meat in the loaf pan.

Let cool until jelly has set. Slice and serve cold.

Kopi Luwak

Hey! I’m back! I know you guys love reading about these disgusting food and facts that I post! Here is another food:

The Civet is a cat sized mammal. It eats only the best berries. They poop out the partially digested beans. People gather the beans. They roast them. They eat them. They sell them for $120-$600 per pound!

Watch out Civets, the humans are following you.

Hey Vegetarians!

I have found some more food facts.

Wood in Cereal…and Everything Else

Yes. Almost everything, from syrup to cereal, has cellulose. It is a cheap filler used in place of real ingredients. It is not bad for you actually, and it adds fiber. Its just weird.

Fertilizer in Sandwiches

Ummmmm, a lot of chains with sandwitches (McDonald’s, Subway) have fertilizer in the buns. yummy.

Beef and Pork in Yogurt

Yeah, vegetarians, there is stearic acid and glycerin in alot of popular brands, which are made of pork and beef by-products.

Here are some facts I bet you did not want to know

You know, almost every single fast food or processed food has ssomething disgusting in it. I have found some more facs! Yipee!

Meat is treated with carbon monoxide to make it look fresh

You want to eat meat that is fresh, so people spray meat withcarbon monoxideto give it that good look.

Salmon dye may be damaging your eyes

AAAAAAAAARGH! MY EYES! About 90% of salmon is farm raised and has grey meat. You do not want to eat grey meat, so people put in Canthaxanthin, which can damage your eyes.

Your salad dressing may contain the same chemicals as your sunscreen

What is up with salad dressing. It already has antifreese, so why does it have to have Titanium dioxide, which is used in paint and sunscreen.

Beaver anal gland juice

Yes.  (I love finding stuff like this, it makes you think twice before drinking)

An FDA law in the U.S. (not sure about Canada) allows companies to use it in processed food and drinks, usually vanilla, rasberry and strawberry. (This is another reason why I like chocolate more) The companies are also allowed to list this as “Natural Flavouring” on the labels. Watch out.
